Best Android Apps of the Week: Disa, Nokia Here Maps, Skype 5.2, and More

Since it’s Monday, we are ready to bring you another edition of our weekly Best Android Apps post. There are quite a few apps released in Play Store every week, but only a handful are worthy to be mentioned here. Therefore, we’ve had a look at what’s new in Play Store and we came pup with the list below.
You probably know from our previous Best Android Apps of the Week posts that in the list below you will find both new apps and older apps that got updated to a newer version over the past week. It’s also worth adding that in the list there are free, payed, and apps which might come with in-app purchases.
Here’s what we have for last week. Also, feel free to let us know in comments whether there are any apps we should have mentioned here.

Disa – Free

Disa is a new messaging client that aims to fix one of the most annoying issues of instant messaging: managing your contacts and conversations across multiple services. Disa has spent some time in private alpha, with over 30,000 people testing it, but now it’s available in Play Store as private beta.
For the time being, Disa only brings official support for two services: SMS and Facebook. Anyway, you will be able to install third-party plugins for other services which can be found in Disa’s Google+ community.

Disa is a free app. It can be downloaded from Google Play Store here.

CTV Go – Free

Canadian Television has a dedicated Android app called CTV Go. Well, CTV Go has been updated to a new version, which finally adds Chromecast support.

Besides Chromecast compatibility, the new CTV Go app also comes with redesigned and modernized look, performance improvements, and a new interface that allows finding content more easier. After the new update, the show pages have a cleaner look with a clear separation of full length episodes and extras.
The CTV Go app is available for download for free. You can grab it form Play Store here.

Nokia Here Maps – Free

Nokia’s maps service, Here, is finally out of beta and available in Google Play Store. It looks quite nice and it’s very easy to use in offline mode.
With Nokia Here maps you will be able to enjoy 3D maps of shopping centers and airports in 70 countries, use driving, public transit, or waking routes for your navigation, or to get information of places on map just by tapping on them. It also shows traffic incidents and allows you to download maps in background, store voices on SD card, and has support for 64-bit devices.
Nokia Here Maps is available in Play Store for free. You can download it using this link.

Flickr 3.2.2 – Free

Flickr has received an interface makeover not long ago and now it’s getting a new update. The new update brings it to version 3.2.2.
In Flickr 3.2.2 you will be able to tag other users in photos or to add your photo to albums and groups directly from the photo. Of course, the new update also brings bug fixes and other minor improvements.
The Flickr 3.2.2 update is already being pushed to users. You can download the app form Play Store for free here.

Google Plus 5.0 – Free

Google Plus got updated to version 5.0 last week. Even though we are dealing with a minor update, there are enough changes to make you want it installed on your device.
Google Plus 5.0 arrives with minor interface tweaks, especially for the settings menu. Unfortunately, the navigation drawer is still gone. On some devices, the new Google Plus update turns off the auto backup feature, so the Photos app might alert you to turn it back on if that’s the case.
Google Plus 5.0 has already been rolled out. You can check it out in Play Store here.

Skype 5.2 – Free

Skype is a popular chat so, naturally, it has a dedicated Android app. Skype got updated to version 5.2 last week.
Skype 5.2 now allows you to share photos even though the other person is offline. Until now, Skype allowed users to share photos in the chat only if the recipient was online. Fortunately, that issue is gone now. You will be able to share photos from your gallery or to snap them with your phone’s camera.
Skype is a free app. It can be downloaded from Google Play Store using this link.
